Healthy #GIRLBOSS Habits
One of my goals is to take better care of myself, both in my personal and work life. As a creative writer, it's super easy to spend all of your time and energy working that your health falls to the wayside. I'm guilty, for sure! Today, I’m sharing several healthy habits I’m trying to follow. As you read, I encourage you to think about what you can begin to carry out in your day-to-day.
This is the easiest habit you can get started on right away. Drinking plenty of water has tons of benefits like controlling headaches, improving your skin and keeping you energized. One of my latest goals is to drink at least 12 glasses of water each day. Ever since I started doing this, I noticed increased stamina and ability to focus on my work. It is amazing what a little water can do! To keep me on track, I downloaded the haptik app. You can tally the number of glasses you drink each day, and the app icon has a static notification to remind you where you’re at with your daily goal.
I’m sure you’ve heard of this one before! Weight loss and healthy eating are one of the biggest industries out there. There are new diets popping up daily. It’s hard to keep up with them all! Another goal of mine was to schedule an appointment with a nutritionist to help me get into a habit of eating healthy. Much like staying hydrated, eating healthy has many benefits like reducing stress, increasing productivity and helping you live longer.
ESTABLISH AN EXERCISE ROUTINE.
This is a tough one for me! I really despise any sort of physical activity, but I’m realizing this is a necessity if I truly want to live a healthier #girlboss lifestyle. I sit behind a computer for the better part during the day, which means I don’t get to move around a lot. I’m starting to develop a routine. I have started by waking up earlier in the morning to practice yoga. (Yoga is easy enough, right?!) My hope is that if I start early enough in the day, I won’t be able to make any excuses.
GET QUALITY SLEEP.
If there’s anything I’ve learned in years is that sleep should be number one on the priority list. Not only will you be a cranky, but lack of sleep paired with an extreme amount of stress can lead to psychological issues. I don’t recommend anyone ignoring their sleep long enough. Since then, I have learned to give myself a strict bedtime to ensure I get in some quality zzzs.
INVEST IN EDUCATION.
This is a fun habit to keep! I firmly believe that you should never stop learning. Even more so if you own an online venture because the Internet continues to evolve rapidly. I like to invest in e-courses, webinars and conferences relevant for my work in order to stay on top of my game. If you’re like me, it can get pretty lonesome working by yourself. Conferences have been helpful in order to get me out and about and meet fellow people.
These are only several examples of things you can do to stay on your A-game as a #girlboss. What healthy habits do you like to keep? Which new habits are you going to implement this year? Let me know in the comments below!
